reflections on Wed. 1/30

Talking about LaTeX seems smooth enough. I should add a pointer to the LaTeX reference card, and give people some exercise. Maybe a resume?

Spent more time talking about descriptive markup than I expected, but that's fine.

Finished Kung, realizing that the format of that isn't quite right. That would go better as actual slides, rather than a long web page to be scrolled through.

I know MacTeX didn't get much love in class, but I've found the 2007 release to be very good. Its now built on top of TeX Live (2007) and includes full support for PDF generation (pdflatex) as well as XeTeX which allows for the use of OpenType fonts (which means you can use any font installed on your system).

I've also found Skim very nice for reading PDF files, it allows adding comments to them, and can automatically update a PDF file that you're generating from TeX source.
